Among all the twists and turns of life, I paint to find a sense of peace within myself. The joy is in the process.
Using encaustic (pigmented wax), oils, and other mediums I explore making marks and gestures as they relate to color and shape. Each mark leads to another and another until I throw up my hands with the need to make order out of the chaos I’ve created. I layer, scrape, and collage to create a sense of space and atmosphere.
The work is abstract without reference to any object or subject, other than the need to express the influences and experiences of my life. The history of each piece is layered in the making. I invite the viewer to explore and draw their own conclusions of how it affects them. There are no secrets, no messages; simply the need to involve one’s senses – to touch, to feel, and to reflect.
